By: Tupaki Desk | 30 May 2026 8:38 PM ISTThe IPL 2026 season has been a very strange one for many reasons, and one of this is the utter failure of several captains in this year’s tournament. Let us have a brief look into the story.
First, we have the case of Hardik Pandya, who is confirmed to step down from Mumbai Indian captaincy position after an absolutely disastrous spell. After his arrival in 2024, Mumbai has been an absolute shambles, and this failed experiment is going to end soon.
Chennai Super Kings, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has also been in pathetic form in the recent past and he is facing significant backlash from his own team fans. Many people are already requesting the management to fire him from the position.
Kolkata captain Ajinkya Rahane is also facing significant backlash from common followers as he did not contribute to the team at any capacity this year. Many people are calling that Rinku Singh must be the new choice for the captaincy position.
Lucknow super Kings also faced a pathetic situation as Rishabh Pant was absolutely clueless as the captain and he has been released from this position after the team in 10th position.
Rajasthan is also facing a similar position as Ryan Parag has been absolutely under the pump for the entire season. The team was entirely carried by 15 year old boy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, while Parag could not make any impact as the captain of the team.
Rajasthan did qualify for the play-offs, but this was entirely due to Vaibhav. So there is a question on whether Riyan Parag could be released as the captain in future.
