Last night, Trump announced that common ground has been found between the two countries and an immediate ceasefire agreement will be enforced.
However, Iran’s state-run TV announced that a ceasefire was declared between Iran and Israel, claiming that it was forced on Israel and that former U.S. President Donald Trump had “begged” for it.
This came after Iran attacked a U.S. base in Qatar. Soon after, Trump publicly declared a “complete and total ceasefire” between Israel and Iran. He said strong U.S. military action, including attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites, made Iran agree. Trump also thanked Iran for giving advance warning before launching missiles.
However, the situation remained tense. After the ceasefire was supposed to begin, Iran fired missiles into Israel, killing 3–4 people in Beersheba. Iran’s Foreign Minister said Iran would stop attacks only if Israel stopped its airstrikes by a set deadline, around 4 a.m. Tehran time.
He added that there was no official agreement between the two sides yet. Israel did not confirm the ceasefire, but reports said Israeli airstrikes had stopped by early Tuesday. Air raid sirens still continued to go off in some areas.
