ISRO is the biggest Outer space research organisations in India and it is one of the hallmark projects held by the government of India. However, things are extremely challenging for this leading organisation now.

It is being established that ISRO could be steadily moving away from manufacturing of outer space commute vehicles and related machinery very soon.

ISRO Chairman Dr Pawan Goenka said India’s space programme is undergoing a major transformation, with ISRO gradually moving away from manufacturing launch vehicles and routine satellites.

He said the shift will allow ISRO to focus on research, advanced technologies, scientific missions and specialised infrastructure, while private companies take charge of commercial production.

The transition has already begun with SSLV technology transferred to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, while PSLV and LVM3 are also expected to move towards private-sector production.

The fact that the biggest organisation associated with space research in India is steadily moving away from the manufacturing of related equipment is an interesting observation.

It is already known that the private equity in this market has been going up consistently and we could soon be witnessing the entire takeover of private companies when it comes to space travel machinery.
