As ITR Site Crashes, 1 Day Extended for Filing!

The last date for filing the income tax returns for September 15. However, there was a major issue here as the income tax website witnessed substantial traffic and crashed multiple times through the course of the day on Monday.

The Income Tax Department has given taxpayers one more day to file their Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the financial year 2024-25. The original last date to file was July 31, 2025. Later, it was extended to September 15, 2025.

Now, because of technical issues on the e-filing portal, the deadline has been pushed further to September 16, 2025.

Many taxpayers reported difficulties while using the portal, especially during the last days of filing. To solve these problems, the department also announced that the portal would be under maintenance from 12:00 AM to 2:30 AM on September 16.

By giving this small extension, the authorities want to make sure that everyone gets a fair chance to complete the process without stress.

Filing ITR on time is very important. It helps avoid penalties and interest charges. It also makes future financial work like taking loans or visas easier.

With this extension, taxpayers who could not finish their filing due to technical problems now have one more day to complete it. The department has advised people not to wait until the last moment, but to use this time wisely and file their returns smoothly.
