Andhra Pradesh is facing a very peculiar situation where the people of the state are having to go through a lot of trouble to just finalise their capital. This is something extremely rudimentary, but that is sadly the case with the state, and the repercussions are pretty strong as well.

This discussion got blown out of proportion today when former chief minister YS Jagan sat in front of the Media and spoke about the two capital projects.

Those who want Amaravathi will vote for TDP & those who want MAVIGUN will vote for YSRCP”, former CM of Andhra Pradesh and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

MAVIGUN is the capital model being proposed by YS Jagan and this MAVIGUN comprises of Machilipatnam, Vijayawada, and Guntur, a 110kms cost-effective capital development corridor.

YSRCP has been alleging that Amaravathi is a white elephant and the capital city is a multi-crore real estate scam which will not be ready anytime soon. Meanwhile, ruling TDP-JANASENA-BJP alliance ridicule YS Jagan’s MAVIGUN.

The fundamental point that must be noted here is that the date of Andhra Pradesh has been battling capital city crisis since the state division on 2nd June 2014, more than 12 years ago.

But even to this day, there is a lot of discussion happening about the capital prospect of the state, and this is a point of great concern as well.

It is evident that Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jagan are fighting to extremely different political battles in the 2029 election and it has to be seen who would be backed by the people of Andhra Pradesh. Will they go after Amaravati, which is being proposed by the NDA or will they go after Jagan’s MAVIGUN? We will know the answer in roughly 3 years from now.
