YCP Vennupotu Dinam: Online Success, Offline Failure?
Now the discussion is about the Vennupotu Dinam event that was called by YCP cadres under the leadership of YS Jagan.
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 Jun 2025 10:00 AM ISTIt has been exactly a year since the formation of the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh, and this occasion was celebrated by the ruling party forces while it was protested by opposition YCP cadres.
Now the discussion is about the Vennupotu Dinam event that was called by YCP cadres under the leadership of YS Jagan. As per Jagan Mohan Reddy’s call, the YSRCP launched a campaign targeting the alliance government, calling it a “Backstab Government.”
The idea was to expose the alliance’s failures and betrayal claims. While the campaign gained momentum on social media, its impact on the ground was limited.
At the grassroots level, local leaders and village-level workers were quite active and visible. However, many senior leaders of the party did not participate, and their absence was noticeable. Several district and constituency-level in-charges either stayed silent or remained inactive. Some even reportedly avoided commenting on the alliance out of fear or strategic silence.
Interestingly, the youth played a strong role and expressed intense criticism of the alliance. Their online presence was aggressive, creating a lot of buzz across platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The YSRCP’s social media wing worked hard to make the campaign trend and dominate online discussions.
However, when it came to public protests or field-level participation, the enthusiasm seen online did not translate to the same extent in real life. The campaign appeared more virtual than physical.
In short, while YSRCP managed to create a big impact on social media with their “Backstab Day” narrative, the same energy was not reflected on the ground. The lack of high-level leadership involvement and cautious approach from many local leaders weakened the overall effect of the campaign in the public domain.
