Why Is Kamal Haasan’s Party Not Contesting Lok Sabha Polls?

The much-awaited time had arrived as the Lok Sabha elections started. Given the size of the elections, they would be held in a phased manner. The first phase of elections started today and as many as 102 seats across the states and UTs will go for the elections.

Our neighbouring state Tamil Nadu is among the states. Since morning, we are seeing celebrities reaching the polling booths and casting their votes. Ulaganayagan also cast his vote in the elections. However, this led to a big doubt.

Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan cast his vote. With this people wonder why his party is not in action in the crucial polls. There is a big reason behind this which stopped the party from contesting the elections.

It is known that Kamal Haasan started a party named Makkal Needhi Maiam. The party tried its luck in the last elections and could not taste a big success. For the Lok Sabha elections, MNM took a big decision and announced an alliance. MNM allied with the ruling DMK.

Earlier Kamal Haasan said that his party is allying with DMK. For the alliance, MNM was offered the Puducherry Rajya Sabha seat. In return, the MNM party is supporting the ruling party. Kamal and other leaders took part in the campaign of the ruling party.

Not just the Lok Sabha elections, the alliance will be active for the next general elections too. It is known that the BJP is the common target of the MNM and the ruling DMK led by Stalin. While announcing the alliance, Kamal Haasan said that to fight the BJP the alliance is formed and urged the voters to support the alliance.
