Karnataka Caps Ticket Prices At 200: AP/TS Must Follow?
In this context, the Karnataka government has issued a new order which regulates the ticket pricing model at Cinema theatres.
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 July 2025 9:33 AM ISTFor a long time, now, there have been several discussions and debates about the kind of ticket pricing that is happening with regard to cinema theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The common opinion all around is that film producers are becoming too greedy and going for additional hikes for their films.
Neighbouring state, Karnataka was also having atrocious problems when it comes to cinematic pricing, and this primarily came from the fact that the ticket prices were beyond control. There were times when mainstream films, ticket prices in Bengaluru used to even touch ₹600 or 700.
In this context, the Karnataka government has issued a new order which regulates the ticket pricing model at Cinema theatres.
It has been officially confirm by the Karnataka government that cinema ticket prices will now be kept at ₹200 at the very maximum. Disorder will be coming to affect in just 15 days from now, and all the subsequent films will have to go with the same pricing model from now on.
This is a pretty positive change that has been enforced by the government of Karnataka in order to bring down the atrocious ticket prices.
In this context, it can perhaps be noted that it is a matter of time before Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Governments might also consider this decision. This is primarily due to the fact that Telugu audience have also been very vocal when it comes to high ticket prices, and it is only going to help if the prices are regulated by the government itself.
But it must be noted that both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments are very lenient towards the film industry, and it looks unlikely that ticket price regulations might be enforced in the near future.
