God’s own country Kerala has been witnessing rain for a few days. The state was hit hard by a series of landslides that created havoc. The Wayanad region is on high alert with the landslide as over four dozen people are said to have been passed away from the landslides that occurred in the early hours.

Hundreds of families are feared trapped. A rescue operation was called. NDRF, Fire and Rescue departments swung into action to rescue the victims. Some injured victims were saved and sent to the nearby facilities for treatment. More than 70 people are undergoing treatment.

Kerala Minister AK Saseendran met the victims who are undergoing treatment at the medical facilities. After knowing the news Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the situation and assured all the possible help.

Despite multiple forces joining hands the rescue operation could not see the required pace as they could not reach Mundakkai. As per the media reports the bridge in Chooral Mala Town collapsed. As it is the only means of transport to reach the affected region the rescue operations saw a slight break.

150 people are feared trapped in Meppadi. As the rescue teams could not reach the region with the bridge collapse choppers were being used. The situation is such that the choppers' services were also not able to be utilised. Due to the landslide chopper landing became tough creating a big obstacle.

Coming to the rescue operation in Meppadi the authorities are busy constructing a temporary bridge. Once it is built the rescue will progress. A red alert was issued in five districts due to the situation. Rainfall is likely to happen in the next 24 hours which would add more troubles.
