In the wake of a B. Tech student's tragic demise at KIIT University in Odisha, the atmosphere remains charged with tension. Students have taken to voicing their demands for justice, spurred by the loss of their fellow student. The grief-stricken father of the deceased, reaching out from Kathmandu, underscored the deep-rooted connection between India and Nepal, emphasizing his trust in India's justice system despite his inability to stay in Odisha during the investigation. He expressed, "There is an inseparable bond between India and Nepal since the Ramayana era. I cannot stay in Odisha while the investigation is ongoing. But I believe that India will do justice to my daughter."

Amidst the ongoing unrest, the University Grants Commission (UGC) stepped in with a directive for KIIT University on Tuesday. In light of the Nepalese student's suicide, the institution has been tasked with providing a detailed account regarding the alleged misconduct by its private security personnel towards students, along with information on the forced removal of students from hostels. This move by the UGC underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for transparency and accountability from the university's administration.

The government's response to this incident has been to establish a three-member high-level committee tasked with investigating the troubling events leading up to and following the student's suicide. In a recent development, this committee has called upon six additional officials from KIIT to participate in the inquiry on the 27th, indicating a thorough investigation process aimed at uncovering the truth behind the allegations of assault and mistreatment of students.
