Champions Trophy: No Chance For Stylish Batsman In Team?

Team India is banking high on the T20 World Cup glory. After a long time, India lifted the ICC trophy. The last time India won the T20 World Cup was in 2007, the maiden edition. With the success to its name India is eyeing another ICC trophy which is the Champions Trophy.

While the squad for the Champions Trophy is not fixed yet media reports abuzz that Stylish Batsman might not feature in the team due to his performance. As he failed to put up the required performance he might not get a spot in the team.

We are talking about KL Rahul here. KL Rahul did not have a good time with the bat of late. His innings in the 2023 World Cup final made him a subject to criticism. Even in the recent Sri Lanka series, he failed to put up a good show.

In particular, the first ODI was tied. Chasing a low target of 231, India got a good start with Rohit Sharma scoring a half-century. In the last overs, KL Rahul was in the crease and despite this, the match was tied.

With no big performance to his name KL Rahul might not get a spot as per the reports. He is facing big competition from Rishabh Pant and Riyan Parag for a spot in the team.

KL Rahul can come in handy as a wicketkeeper too. He stood behind the wickets for the 2023 World Cup. Rishabh Pant is back and he will be the full-time wicketkeeper. If they want a plan B, Ishan Kishan is playing domestic cricket and sending a message to the management.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill might open the innings. In the middle order, Shreyas Iyer might get a spot. Gautam Gambhir is the head coach and he is making big decisions. There is a perception that batsmen might be asked to roll up their sleeves to bowl a few overs.

Earlier Surya Kumar Yadav and Rinku Singh bowled and won the match. In this scenario, Shreyas Iyer would get preference as he can bowl a few overs.

Considering all these aspects the media reports say that KL Rahul might not get a chance. However, he still has a chance to prove himself. He is selected for the Duleep Trophy and if he manages to put up a good performance then he might have an advantage.
