Kodela Sivaram Issue Becoming An Issue For TDP?

Sattenapalli is one of the strong zones of the Telugu Desam Party. Though the party lost the seat in the 2019 elections, it recorded consecutive wins in the seat. Kodela Siva Prasada Rao should be credited for this. In his decades-long political career, he made the region a strong bastion for the grand old party.

It is known that the TDP has been appointing in-charges for the constituencies and the in-charges are said to be the possible candidates for the upcoming elections. Given the legacy Kodela Siva Prasada Rao has, many expected that his son Kodela Sivaram would be made in charge.

But the TDP leadership surprised everyone and appointed former minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, who joined the party leaving BJP as the in charge of Sattenapalli. Many see this as a big and daring step by Chandrababu Naidu ahead of the much-awaited general elections.

This brought another tension to the party with the infight between Kodela camp and Kanna Lakshminarayana. It is said that there are a few issues between the two sides and they are not helping each other.

In-charges are appointed to make the party strong there. But it is said that the Kodela Sivaram camp is not supporting the Kanna Lakshminarayana camp and the issue was taken to the notice of the party leadership. Following this, a notice was reportedly sent to Kodela Sivaram's camp asking why they are not supporting Kanna Lakshminarayana.

This did not go well with Kodela Sivaram and he reportedly asked how notices can be served to those who bore the party flag for decades. Alleging that a conspiracy is being run to clear the image of Kodela, he asked why no notice was sent to Kanna who did not step into the Sattenapalli TDP office yet.

It looks like the Kodela-Kanna face-off would not stop any time soon and the party leadership would face a headache with this. The TDP is at a critical juncture and it cannot take any risk. The general elections are next year. Kodela still has a good image there and Sivaram not taking an active part might cost the party big time.
