By: Tupaki Desk | 23 Jan 2026 8:42 PM ISTA serious political development happened in Telangana today as former IT minister of the state, KTR was notified by the SIT to appear for investigation in connection with the phone tapping case.
BRS working president K T Rama Rao appeared before the Special Investigation Team on Thursday and was questioned for nearly seven hours in connection with the alleged phone tapping case in Telangana. The questioning took place at the Jubilee Hills police station following a notice issued by the SIT asking him to cooperate with the investigation.
This is one of the most significant developments in the case so far, as KTR is among the senior leaders to be examined after the SIT intensified its probe into the alleged illegal surveillance of politicians, journalists and other individuals during the previous government’s tenure.
The investigators reportedly questioned him on administrative processes, intelligence operations and decision making related to surveillance.
After the questioning, KTR stated that he fully cooperated with the SIT and answered all questions put to him. However, he strongly denied any involvement in illegal phone tapping. He reiterated that intelligence related activities are handled by officials and are not directly controlled by ministers.
KTR also alleged that the case is being used for political targeting by the current Congress government. He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of trying to divert public attention from governance issues by focusing on what he described as an old and fabricated case.
The SIT is expected to continue questioning other officials and leaders as part of its ongoing investigation.
