However, we are hearing two versions of this. While a section of people say that travel is required for women, the other version is that the facility is being misused.
A few videos have come which show women fighting for seats in the buses. In one instance a woman was found brushing in the bus. These instances add fuel to the controversy over free travel. Amid this, former IT Minister KTR made crucial comments.
It is said that KTR made objectionable comments about women who are availing free bus facility. His comments did not go well with the Congress party and the ruling party slammed him.
Minister Seethakka did not like what the former Minister said and demanded an apology from him. While talking about the free buses KTR reportedly said that let women weave or break dance in the buses. Later he said that he should have not made such comments.
The issue took a big turn with the entry of the State Women’s Commission. As the issue went to the notice of the Commission, a suo motu inquiry was initiated. The Women’s Commission said that the comments made by KTR were not only inappropriate but also caused distress among the women.
Highlighting these aspects the Women’s Commission said that an inquiry has been initiated. Women's Commission chairperson Sharada Nerella took to social media to share the news.
