In the August 16 Madhapur accident case in which a 26-year-old girl lost her life, the accused, Lingamaneni Sanjush, surrendered at the police station after the incident.
Now the MP himself has reacted on this matter as he posted “It is deeply unfortunate and heartbreaking that the road accident which occurred in Hyderabad on 16th of August, 2026 and which led to unfortunate loss of the young woman.
We will extend every possible support to the bereaved family. I request you all not to speculate or prejudge the circumstances. The investigation must establish the complete facts.”
This is now followed by something pretty significant as it has been confirmed that the individual has not tested positive for any drugs. His surrendered at the police station after the incident.
Regarding the ongoing debt about why the Police department data immediately arrest the individual, there is an interesting theory that is in circulation.
Having regard to the facts and circumstances then available, the appropriate penal provision, namely Section 106(1) BNS, carrying a maximum punishment of five years, was invoked.
Since the offence is punishable with imprisonment of less than seven years, the Investigating Police Officer was required to consider the necessity of arrest and had to drop the same.
