Football is the most followed sport in the world by a comfortable margin, and it naturally has millions of followers across the globe. Incidentally, football has two main superstar who had been dominating the football scene for many years, and they are Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

There has been a long standing debate about the greatness of these two players as their respective fans keep fighting about who is the better of the lot.

In terms of physical attribute and number in terms of goals, Cristiano Ronaldo is marginally ahead of his competitor, Lionel Messi.

When it comes to team building chemistry, sheer footballing ability, genius dribbling and the ability to win games on his own, Lionel Messi is a completely different breed altogether.

The fact that Messi was able to take a mediocre Argentina team to the World Cup final three times in the recent past is a clear indication of the same. He even won the World Cup in 2022 against the world champion, France, which was a historical achievement.

In terms of historic trend, even the biggest players in the game naturally approved that Messi is the greatest player in the history of this sport. But Ronaldo is sharp in terms of social media PR management and related abilities which keeps him vaguely in the same zone as Messi.

But considering the fact that these two legendary players are nearly done with the game and could be retiring in the test to follow, there is no point in quarrelling about their achievements. They are both gifted and capable in their own rights.
