Lonavala Picnic Turns Deadly: Floods Sweep Away Family

Monsoon season, a time for scenic getaways and lush landscapes, turned tragic near Lonavala, Maharashtra. A family outing to a waterfall took a horrifying turn when sudden flash floods swept away five members. According to reports, a group of 15 to 17 members, likely two families, had planned a picnic near the Bhushi Dam backwaters. While enjoying the scenic spot, heavy rain caused a rapid rise in water levels at a nearby waterfall. Ten picnickers were caught in the surging current, leaving some struggling to stay afloat. Thankfully, local residents and bystanders managed to rescue five individuals.

The tragedy deepened as search teams recovered the bodies of a woman and two young girls. The search for the two remaining children, swept away by the forceful current, continues. Rescue efforts are hampered by the strong water flow and the possibility of the children being carried downstream.
