When we talk about Maldives, exotic locations and beautiful scenarios come to our minds. But the South Asian nation in the Indian Ocean.is more than that it is also a sensitive region due to various reasons. Despite having a smaller population, Maldives is dubbed as an upper-middle-income economy by the World Bank.

Due to the proximity of the territory, both India and China want to have control of the Maldives. India's military has a presence there. Now the incoming Maldives President has a request for India and he is confident that the request would be accepted by India.

Mohamed Muizzu who was recently elected as the President of Maldives said that they went to be independent and hence he will ask India to call back the troops that are stationed in the territory.

Having said that he will ask India to call back the troops, the incoming President said that the same will apply to others as well and he will not allow other military also to function here as it will hinder the independence of the region.

Saying that he would ask the Indian troops to go back, the incoming President said that he wanted to maintain friendly ties with everyone. “We want a bilateral relationship that's mutually beneficial,” he said.

If Indian troops come out of Maldives then it is a big concern for our safety as we cannot know what China is up to. As China is a troubling neighbor, India deployed military personnel in Maldives as a safety measure. The personnel deployed there are an advantage to us.

In Maldives around 70 military personnel are stationed in Maldives. They take care of things like maintaining the radars and surveilling the aircraft. The warships also created a space for the personnel to patrol the exclusive economic zone in Maldives.

Another scare we have is, that incoming Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu is dubbed as pro-China and is said that he has close ties with China. If the Indian troops are removed then we will have a big threat. Subject experts are worried about the possible threat.
