The alleged pro-China stand of the newly formed government in Maldives is proving tough for the South Asian nation. The nature had put the long-standing ties between Maldives and India in question. The tense situation between the two nations started with President Mohamed Muizzu asking Indian troops to vacate the nation.

Things escalated quickly with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting Lakshadweep and posting breathtaking pictures from the visit. With this Indians started searching for Lakshadweep and preferring the Union Territory over Maldives.

Adding fuel to this, a few Ministers from the Maldives made some objectionable comments on India and Modi. This did not go well with Indians and the call to boycott Maldives was started. Not just the common people but even celebrities are doing their part in promoting Lakshadweep.

Thousands of Air tickets and hotel bookings were canceled by Indians amid the row. This can be seen as a big blow to Maldives which depends heavily on tourism and related aspects. Travel companies are also saying that they will stop booking for Maldives.

When the boycott Maldives trend was going on, the FWICE drew the second blood for Maldives by announcing the call to boycott shoots in Maldives. The body urged the filmmakers to go to other locations for the shoot in India so that tourism would get a big boost.

In the wake of the tense situation between India and Maldives, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) urged the filmmakers to boycott shootings in Maldives and pick shooting locations in India. Not just the producers in India, but across the globe were advised to not shoot in Maldives.

"All the producers in India and over the globe are hereby advised not to plan any shootings or production activities in Maldives. We all stand in strong support towards our Prime Minister and our Nation," FWICE said in the Press Release.

First tourism was hit and now the shootings were also canceled in Maldives. It was a back-to-back blow to the Maldives. It would not be an easy task for Maldives to deal with the big blows.
