A big debate is going on about what will be the political future and route map of the senior leader in Srikakulam district politics Dharmana Prasada Rao who is serving as the Minister in the current government. Dharmana Prasada Rao won elections from Narasannapeta and Srikakulam a few times and held key portfolios.

He is in his sixties. It is being said that he told his close circles that he would not contest the next elections and he wants to become a Rajya Sabha member if the party leadership gives him an opportunity. It is also said that he has a proposal to give the Srikakulam ticket to his son Dharmana Rammanohar Naidu.

However, the party leadership reportedly has other plans. It might allow him to go to Parliament if he wants. However, it will be Lok Sabha and not Rajya Sabha as he wanted. The party wants him to contest as Srikakulam MP. But the Srikakulam MLA ticket will be given to others.

This is the reason behind the issues. While Dharmana is reportedly saying that he will contest as MP happily if his son is given the MLA ticket, the bigwigs in YCP are reportedly saying this is not possible. There is a big plan behind this reportedly. For the past three decades, the Yerran Naidu family has been dominating the Srikakulam Lok Sabha seat. He contested the Lok Sabha seat for the first time in 1996. He won four consecutive terms in 1998,1999 and 2004. He lost the seat for the first time in 2009. He passed away in 2012.

His son Ram Mohan Naidu won the seat two times in 2014 and 2019. In the 2019 elections, YCP lost the seat with a mere margin of six and a half thousand votes. Many say that the Dharmana family might have been helping the Kinjarapu family since Yerran Naidu's days in the Lok Sabha polls. After 2019, YCP MP candidate Duvvada Srinivas and Srikakulam District President, former Union Minister Killi Krupa Rani reportedly complained to YCP leadership about the Dharmana family’s help.

Back then it was reported that Jagan became serious as the YCP lost the MP seat despite winning five out of seven MLA seats in the Parliament seat limits. The leadership had learned that despite the Kalinga community voting for the party there was a split in the votes of the Velama community and this is helping the TDP.

With this, the leadership decided to field someone from the Dharmana family as an MP after the 2019 elections. The High Command is strong on the same word. YCP bigwigs think that if Dharmana Prasada Rao is in the fight, then the Velama community votes will be polled for the party. As the Kalinga votes will also be polled, the party will win the seat for sure.

As Dharmana’s political life will be in danger if he loses the elections, the party thinks that he will not lose. With the pressure from high command, Dharmana is unable to take any call. We have to wait and see what happens next. It appears that the Minister is not ready to contest as an MP reportedly.
