The opposition parties asked how the Deputy Chief Minister was made to sit down while the Cabinet Ministers sat on chairs. The issue was put to rest with the Deputy Chief Minister saying he had opted to sit on a small stool.
A similar controversy erupted after the Congress party came to power when IAS officer Smita Sabharwal met Minister Seethakka. In the pictures, the IAS was spotted sitting cross-legged. Usually, we don't see the officers in that sitting position.
The IAS had to face criticism on this with people asking how she could do that while sitting in front of a Cabinet Minister. At last, the IAS officer responded to this and gave her take on this.
In an interview, she was asked about this. In response, she said that she casually sat in that position and there is no other reason. Having said that she said she is 47 and there is no need for others to tell her how to sit.
Smita Sabharwal said that she feels comfortable in that position and hence she sat in that position and there is no other reason. She went on to say that she would change her way if there were any rules on the sitting position.
After Congress came to power and formed the government, Smita Sabharwal met Minister Seethakka. This is the first meeting between the two. The pictures of the meeting went viral on social media with the senior IAS facing criticism.
Smita Sabharwal was appointed as the Secretary of the Mission Bhagiratha Department. She is the first lady IAS Officer to get appointed at the CMO. She has the image of The People’s Officer for the initiates she took as the officer.
