The Bharatiya Janata Party rose to super fame by winning the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The party won the next elections too and is eyeing a third consecutive win. The BJP is confident of a big win and winning 370 seats alone. The estimation appears to be big compared to the seats it won in the last elections.

As the elections are just a few months away, the BJP is busy looking for candidates. BJP has a standard procedure of going after celebrities to make them the candidates. In the last elections, a few celebrities were made the candidates.BJP is expected to do the same.

As per the media reports BJP is in plans to make Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami a Lok Sabha member in the elections. It is said that a proposal was made to the player. Shami is yet to take a call on this and he is expected to give a positive response.

Reports say that Shami might be fielded as a candidate from the Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal. BJP is trying hard to expand its wings there. The party is in second place and wants to grow further. For this Shami might be the right decision.

It is known that a few sections took objection to the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. But Mohammed Shami spoke in support of the Mandir and said that he has no issues with the Mandir construction.

When asked about people making religious slogans Shami said that everyone is free to make such slogans and he sees no objection to this.

These factors might have played a key role in BJP going after Shami. If everything goes well we would see the Indian pacer join the list of Manoj Tiwari and Ashok Dinda who joined politics.

Mohammed Shami ended the 2023 World Cup on a high note. In just seven matches he claimed 24 wickets. His best performance came in the Semis against New Zealand. In the match, he recorded 7 for 57.
