In a few months, India will go for the much-awaited Lok Sabha elections. As the elections are expected to very intense and tough fight between the ruling BJP and the opposition parties, the political observers say that the elections can change the political landscape of the country.
Ahead of such crucial elections, the opposition parties' MPs leveled serious allegations that attempts are made to hack their phones. The MPs went on to say that they received E-mails and messages from Apple company. The legislators went on to share the screenshots of the messages.
The MPs who made the claims of hacking attempts include Shashi Tharoor(Congress), Priyanka Chaturvedi(Shiv Sena (UBT), and Mahua Moitra(Trinamool Congress. Raghav Chadha(Aam Aadmi Party) and CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury also alleged that they received the claims.
With this, the opposition party leaders started targeting the Union Government. They are asking how the opposition leaders' phones can be snooped upon. An intense war of words going on between the ruling and opposition parties.
Giving a twist to the tale, Apple is believed to have said that the threat notifications the MPs received might be false alarms."It is possible that some Apple threat notifications may be false alarms," the company is believed to said in response.
The opposition leaders reportedly received notifications that "state-sponsored" hackers trying to access their iPhones. This became a big sensation in the country with the opposition party leaders alleging a possible hacking attempt.
On the other hand, the Union Government gave a strong response to the issue and rubbished the claims. The Centre said that it is very serious about protecting the privacy and security of all citizens.
IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that a detailed investigation will be launched in the case to gather more details. It is said that the Minister spoke to the concerned opposition parties MPs over the phone on the matter.
