Dhoni Last Match, But No Batting?

It is an open secret that MS Dhoni is the most popular player in the IPL and this is despite the fact that it has been five years since he had returned from international cricket. He still commands a humongous following and his entry into the stadium while stepping out to bat is a cinematic expression in itself.

However, something extremely untoward happened in today’s game between Chennai and Gujarat, as Dhoni could not come out to bat in the first innings.

This was primarily due to the disaster show put up by Jadeja, who scored 21 runs from 18 balls with less than 120 strike rate and messed up the opportunity of Dhoni coming up to bat.

Jadeja was not scoring many runs, and at the same time was consuming many balls, and thus took away the opportunity for Dhoni to step out to bat. At one point, even Chennai fans were hoping that Jadeja would get out which would lead to Dhoni coming out to bat. But that did not happen.

So in the final game of this season for Chennai and also, what could be the final game of the IPL career for Dhoni, it is very sad to note that he did not get the chance to bat. But nevertheless, Chennai still managed to get to a pretty good score of 230 runs in their first innings and will have to defend the same to defeat Gujarat.
