Everyone knows the sensation around the hijab controversy in India. A few states saw intense protests protesting the issue. It all happened when a few girls were asked to not wear a Hijab in educational institutions. On the flipside Iran witnessed anti-Hijab protests with women fighting against the rule.

Now a Police department will pay as much as $17.5m over the hijab issue. In an old hijab mugshot row, two women won the suit and the department will pay a big amount. The police reportedly forced the women to remove their hijab and took their picture.

Going into details Jamilla Clark and Arwa Aziz moved the Court saying that their religious freedom was violated as the cops forced them to remove their hijab and took their pictures. The case was filed back in 2028. After a few years, the verdict was given and the Police department will pay a big amount.

As they will get a compensation of $17.5m, the two women say that they will distribute the money to women who went through similar experiences. They said that over 3,600 women will be given the payouts from the compensation money.

The two women said that they were happy with the judgment as their fight had a positive end. When the police asked them to remove the hijab one of the victims cried asking the police to not do this. But they did listen. With this, they moved the court with a suit.

Now New York City has reportedly decided to pay $17.5 million as compensation to settle the case. However, it is said that the federal judge has to give the nod for the settlement. Once this comes the companion might reach the complainants.

It is said that the money would be distributed between the women who faced similar treatment. Each of over 3,600 women would get between $7,000 to $13,000 as the pay-outs.
