Just a couple of days ago, director Ram Gopal Varma vowed to make a grand comeback and deliver a cult film like Satya. However, he has now landed in legal trouble as the Andheri Magistrate Court in Mumbai convicted him in a cheque bounce case and gave him a three-month jail sentence.

The verdict of this hearing was scheduled for Tuesday. The case was been under the hearing in the court for the last seven years. Meanwhile, Varma was absent during the hearing yesterday. Thus, the court ordered to issuing of a non-bailable warrant against Varma in the case.

The case was filed under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. As per the act, individuals will be penalised for cheque-bouncing cases. The court also ordered Varma to pay a penalty of Rs. 3.72 lakhs to the complainant or stay in jail for three more months.

The case was filed against Varma's company by a firm named Shree through Maheshchandra Mishra in 2018. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Varma went through financial troubles and had to sell his office. In June 2022, Varma was convicted in his case. However, he came out on bail executing PR and cash security of Rs. 5000.
