A major clash between security forces and Naxal militants took place in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district resulting in the deaths of 31 Naxals and two security personnel. The encounter occurred in the Indravati National Park area during an Anti-Naxalite operation.

According to officials, the security team included personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF). Acting on intelligence about armed Maoists in the region, they launched the operation on Saturday. The confrontation began on Sunday morning leading to intense gunfire.

During the exchange, two security personnel lost their lives while two others sustained injuries. The injured officers were immediately airlifted to Raipur for medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities have recovered the bodies of 12 Naxal militants so far but the total number of casualties is expected to rise. A large number of weapons and explosives were also seized from the site. The identities of the deceased Naxals are yet to be confirmed.

Reinforcements have been deployed to the area and search operations have been intensified to locate more Maoists. Security forces have been making significant progress in their efforts to combat left-wing extremism in Chhattisgarh. Since the beginning of this year, 62 Maoists have been killed in various operations across the state.

Bijapur remains one of the most Naxal-affected districts in the region, and authorities are determined to eliminate their presence. This encounter is part of a larger strategy to restore peace and security in the state.
