Making the reports true Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is said to have decided to fight for the special status for Bihar. At the recent Janata Dal (United) meeting, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is said to have raised the demand.

The party reportedly decided to seek either special status or a special package for the state. A resolution has been taken at the meeting. Nitish Kumar might start his fight for the demand soon. JD(U) wants to fight for this so that it helps the state grow in various aspects.

The demand for special status for Bihar is not new and it has been going on for a long time. It is said that Nitish Kumar wants to stress this time given the position of the BJP. It did not get the magic figure and the government is running with the support of JD(U) and TDP.

Bihar and Jharkhand were bifurcated pushing Bihar into a lot of issues including poverty and lack of growth. There has been a long-standing demand for this. Nitish Kumar spoke about this back in 2005 and has been talking about it regularly.

With Bihar reportedly talking about this the focus went on Andhra Pradesh. After Telangana was carved out of combined AP, special status was granted. However, this could not happen with a change in power. While there is no guarantee of what Congress would have done, the current Central government did not grant it.

Observers are saying that this is the best time for Andhra Pradesh to get the special status that comes with a lot of benefits. Congress earlier asked Chandrababu Naidu to demand the status. Now we have to see what the Chief Minister would do.
