India is hosting the prestigious event, the Cricket World Cup. Fans pinned high hopes on the tournament for the arrangements. But the Gujarat Cricket Board and BCCI are facing severe criticism with the first match of the World Cup.

Is This How Stadium Looks?

The first match of the World Cup is being played at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, which is the biggest stadium in the world. Moreover, India is hosting the World Cup after the 2011 edition. So massive arrangements are expected for the tournament. But just a captains event was held. As if that is not enough, there are no audiences in the first match between Defending Champions England and runner-up New Zealand.

This is the first match of the World Cup. It is not small teams like Netherlands-Afghanistan that are playing. But the stands are looking empty. The average fan cannot digest the scene.

The Narendra Modi stadium which has the capacity of over one lakh saw less than 20,000 in attendance. The orange colour was painted to the stands. In the absence of fans, the stands are looking empty.

This is the biggest stadium and is named after the country’s Prime Minister. The stadium is located in his home state and Gujarat is also the home state of the second biggest leader in the country, Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah is BCCI’s secretary. Despite this, there are no audiences and this is not a small thing.

Usually, colleges and educational institutions bring their students to the stadiums if test matches are played in their cities. But it looks like the institutions did not take students to the stadium despite the World Cup fever. There are no fans even outside the stadium. A Hyderabad person who was shocked by this said that more people would come to the match if the match was played in Hyderabad.
