The long-standing demand of having a Ram Mandir in the temple city of Ayodhya was fulfilled at last. Putting an end to centuries-old dispute the temple was inaugurated and devotees are visiting the temple in big numbers. The occasion was celebrated in a big way across the country.

Weeks after the temple inauguration an objectionable play was staged at a University which raised many eyeballs. The police case was filed and a few people including the Professor of the University were booked in connection with the controversy.

As per the information that is coming from the media reports, a Ramleela play was staged at the Savitribai Phule Pune University. It is said that the play showed the characters of Rama and Sita smoking and Sita's character abusing Laxman.

The ABVP members at the campus took strong objection to the play and sought a stop. However, the accused and the activists are said to have had an argument and the accused reportedly attacked the ABVP members.

With this, the issue went to the notice of the Police. Alleging that the sentiments hurt a case was filed against five people including the Professor. After the arrest, the accused were released on bail. The issue created a sensation in the country as it happened weeks after the temple inauguration.

While what happened was a big shock many wonder how a play can be staged under a Professor's guidance. Religion is a very sensitive matter. Having no belief is one thing and hurting the sentiments is another thing.

The University said that as part of the practicals the play was staged and certain objectionable sentences led to the face-off. The administration also set up a committee to look into the issue to find out what had happened.
