No matter what Narendra Modi will go down as the Prime Minister who took sensational decisions. The list of sensational decisions he took goes on. Article 370 abrogation, CAA, and UCC are among the big decisions. We have seen how the anti-farm laws protests rocked the nation. Even the international media covered the news.

The BJP-led Center has been trying hard to push for the Jamili elections, which is to hold Assembly and Parliament elections together. The government is batting for the proposal of One Nation One Election.

Reacting to the proposal firebrand leader Mamata Banerjee said a big no. The West Bengal Chief Minister said that this is against democracy and it will let autocracy enter the center stage.

Saying that the proposal will hinder the federal structure in the country, the Chief Minister had written a letter to the special committee which was set up to look into the suggestions of the proposal.

In her letter, she said that the elections in the states and Lok Sabha elections are at different times, and hence holding the elections together would be a tough task. If the system gets into effect the states which are not supposed to go to elections would be forced for the same, she said.

Listing out issues like the time the proposal was made and not including the Chief Ministers in the committee that is dealing with the proposal, the West Bengal Chief Minister said that she could not agree to the proposal and announced her dissatisfaction with this.

In the letter, the Chief Minister said that simultaneous elections are not new and in 1952 the simultaneous elections were held and that the situations have changed and the states are having elections at a different time than that of the Lok Sabha elections.
