By: Tupaki Desk | 7 May 2025 11:11 AM ISTFollowing a terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, India launched airstrikes, termed "Operation Sindoor," targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan early Tuesday. These precision strikes aimed at dismantling nine significant terrorist camps close to the international border. The operations focused on camps affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen, striking a decisive blow against the infrastructures supporting terrorism.
The targeted bases included the Markaz Subhan in Bahawalpur, serving as the primary headquarters for Jaish-e-Mohammad, just 100 km from the border. Additionally, the Markaz Toiba in Muridke, a known Lashkar camp, also came under fire. This particular camp, situated 30 km from the border, has been linked to terrorists involved in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
Among the Hizbul Mujahideen camps targeted was the Mehmoona Zoya in Sialkot, located merely 15 km from the international border. This camp, surrounded by residential buildings, highlights the complex challenge of targeting terrorist infrastructures embedded within civilian areas. Furthermore, the Markaz Abbas terrorist camp in Kotli, believed to be behind recent attacks on innocent civilians, was also struck.
The operation also targeted the Masqar Rahil Shahid in Kotli, a camp situated in a hilly region and known to house a significant cache of arms and ammunition. The Shawai Nallaah camp in Muzaffarabad, a key Lashkar training facility operating since 2000, was another focal point of the airstrikes.
The Markaz Ahle Hadith terrorist camp in Burnal, used for deploying Lashkar terrorists and weapons into critical sectors, and the Saidna Bilaal terrorist camp in Muzaffarabad, a major Jaish center used for transporting terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir, were among the other camps targeted. Lastly, the Sarjal in Tehra Kalaan, another Jaish-e-Mohammad camp, was hit, showcasing India's comprehensive approach to combating terrorism at its source.
This military response underscores India's commitment to safeguarding its citizens and interests against terrorism. By targeting these camps, India has sent a clear message regarding its zero-tolerance policy toward acts of terror. The operations not only aimed at retribution for the attack on tourists but also sought to significantly disrupt terrorist operations and prevent future attacks.
