Reportedly, Oracle layoffs affecting 10% of its Indian workforce, potentially thousands of employees, follow a recent meeting between CEO Larry Ellison and US President Donald Trump on August 7, 2025.

This coincided with a recruitment drive in Virginia, hinting at a strategic shift possibly prioritizing US jobs over global operations.

Industry trends suggest AI automation, as noted in a 2025 Innopharma Education study projecting 20-50 million new jobs by 2030 but also significant displacement.

With Oracle�s expansion into Tier-II and III Indian cities possibly aimed at cost optimization rather than job security, things are not looking very promising for the urbane workforce.

Either way, it must be noted that the ongoing AI revolution is going to have a serious reprimanding effect on the IT industry, and the Indian workforce is warned to be more cautious of what is happening.
