DCM Pawan Kalyan Targeting Jagan’s Pulivendula: What’s Happening?

The Pulivendula Assembly constituency in the Kadapa region of Andhra Pradesh has historically been with the YSR family. The fact that former chief minister YS Jagan has been representing this constituency for the last three terms with a majority of more than 50,000 votes is an example of the same.

However, the return of the NDA government to power has constituted a series of changes in the Pulivendula constituency.

Now it appears that deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan has said full focus on the Pulivendula constituency.

By the time the NDA government assumed power in 2024, the Jal Jeevan Mission deadline had also expired, making it impossible to utilize the remaining funds at the center.

As a result of the efforts by the Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and alliance leaders, the center agreed to extend the Jal Jeevan Mission for another 4 years, giving a fresh lease of life to the Pulivendula mega drinking water supply scheme.

From then on, with Pawan Kalyan's special initiative, approximately ₹280 crores were allocated solely to the Pulivendula scheme, and works were swiftly undertaken. Apart from laying some incomplete pipelines during the previous government's tenure, hardly any major works were completed.

This is an indication of the fact that the deputy CM is fully focused on the Pulivendula constituency and is looking to resolve one of the outstanding problems here.

It has to be seen how the former chief minister YS Jagan would be reacting to this development as the NDA is making quick progress in his own constituency. But at the end of the day, coming close to Jagan’s domination in this constituency is nearly possible for any party.
