The BJP-led Centre faced immense criticism with the intense protests carried out by the farmers against the controversial farm laws. The nation saw protests in various regions against the laws. Even the international media covered the news. No one can forget what had happened during the protests. The farmer community took an active part in the protests.

As farmers protested against the laws it looks like it is the turn of the truck drivers to protest against the laws. Since yesterday, we have been seeing protests. The provisions brought by the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) in dealing with the hit-and-run cases are said to be the reason for this.

To date, the hit-and-run cases are being dealt with under the IPC sections and it attracts a maximum jail term of two years. Sometimes the guilty would be punished by paying a fine and under some circumstances they would attract both. But the new law says that the punishment for hit-and-run cases would be 10 years in jail and a fine of ₹ 7 lakh.

Truck Drivers' associations and others called for a protest which has been going on intense. The same is the case with many states. They say that such laws are not wanted and asked who would take care of their families if they are sent to jail. To express the anger they hit the roads against the laws.

The protests are leaving a big impact as consumers are rushing to the petrol bunks to get the fuel. There are fears that the protests by the drivers might impact the supply of fuel and with this there is a mad rush at the bunks. People are standing in big queues to get the fuel in their vehicles.

This is the case with many states. People fear that they might run out of fuel with the protests and they are standing in big queues. People are worried about the situation fearing what would happen next.
