Moreover, they have more responsibilities in a democracy as the government is first the people. While this is what the rule position says the reality has something else to say.
Very often we hear incidents of people being mistreated by the officials. But many say that only a few incidents make it to the news. One such incident came to light when an IAS officer made objectionable comments towards a driver. His loose tongue and the comments he made grabbed everyone's attention.
Many asked how such an official can pass such comments and there is a big demand for action against the official. Acting on this, the government took action and transferred him.
This unfortunate incident happened in Madhya Pradesh. Shajapur Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal asked a driver who is his status which kickstarted a row. The issue went to the notice of the Chief Minister and the IAS was transferred.
It is known that the truck drivers called for a protest against the new hit-and-run law. As the protests turned intense the local administration held talks with them to pacify them. During the interaction, the Collector asked Tumhari aukat kya hai which loosely translates to What is your status in English.
The IAS became popular at once for an unwanted reason as everyone wanted an action for his comments. His loose tongue attracted a punishment as he was transferred. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that what the IAS said was not good and there is zero tolerance for such things.
