Finally, Indian MP Brings Up Mobile Tariff Sham In India!
Raghav Chadha has strongly criticized telecom companies for blocking incoming calls when users run out of balance.
By: Tupaki Desk | 22 Feb 2026 2:45 PM ISTFor a long time, now, there have been several complaints against the Indian mobile prepaid tariffs system. Main complaint is regarding the payment of monthly recharge amount just to secure incoming calls on second SIM cards.
Incidentally, this topic was brought to discussion by BJP MP and here is a look at the kind of interesting argument that he had to make.
Raghav Chadha has strongly criticized telecom companies for blocking incoming calls when users run out of balance.
He said that stopping outgoing calls due to low balance is understandable, but blocking incoming calls is completely wrong, especially for poor users who depend on their phones for essential communication.
According to him, mobile connectivity is no longer a luxury but a basic necessity. Many daily wage workers, small vendors, and rural families rely on incoming calls for job opportunities, emergency updates, and important family matters. Blocking incoming calls, he argued, can isolate vulnerable people at critical times.
He pointed out that telecom companies already earn from recharge plans and data packs, and denying even incoming call access puts an unfair burden on low income users.
He urged regulators and the government to look into the issue and ensure that basic incoming call services remain available even if a user has not recharged.
Chadha emphasized that access to communication is linked to dignity and opportunity in today’s digital India. He called for policies that protect the interests of the common man and prevent telecom providers from taking harsh measures that disproportionately affect the poor.
