Pulivendula MLA Jagan has expressed his dissatisfaction with not being allocated sufficient time to speak in the Assembly, similar to his presence in the media. This has led him to abstain from attending Assembly meetings, he revealed during a recent press conference. Jagan's stance highlights his demand for equal opportunities to present his views both in the media and within the Assembly's debates.

The legislative framework requires a party to hold at least 10% of the total Assembly seats, which translates to a minimum of 18 MLAs, to qualify for Opposition status. AP Deputy Speaker Raghurama pointed out this specification while addressing Jagan's absences. He emphasized that without a leave request, an MLA's continuous absence for 60 days could result in the termination of their Assembly membership, as per Article 190/4 of the Constitution. Raghurama underscored the responsibility bestowed upon the Speaker and Deputy Speaker to enforce these constitutional provisions.

Raghurama further explained the procedure for extending leave beyond 60 days, which necessitates submitting another leave application. He disclosed that Jagan had not submitted any leave request, raising doubts about his intentions to seek permission for his absences. When confronted by a journalist about the potential consequences of his nonattendance, Jagan responded with indifference, stating, "Do whatever you want." This response indicates Jagan's dismissive attitude towards the legislative requirements and potential repercussions of his absenteeism.

In conclusion, the debate over Jagan's participation in the Assembly underscores a critical aspect of political engagement and the significance of adhering to legislative protocols. Without official leave requests, Jagan's continued absence risks not only his position within the Assembly but also raises questions about his commitment to his legislative responsibilities. The situation reflects the complexities of political dynamics and the importance of communication and adherence to procedural norms within legislative bodies.
