Tupaki Analysis: Is Rajamouli Really Making It With Varanasi!

There is absolutely not debating, the fact that Rajamouli is the greatest commercial film maker in Indian cinema at this point in time and the numbers are showing for themselves. More importantly, he is very particular about large scale action filmmaking, which is very tough.

Rajamouli is currently working on the costliest and also the most challenging project in his career in the form of Varanasi. This film is being short in the most exquisite locations in Africa and Antarctica, and more importantly, being shot for IMAX format footage.

The best thing about the IMAX format is that it will offer the most immense theatrical experience to the audience. This is perhaps, in view of the fact that Rajamouli wants global patronage for this film, and he’s giving it a big release across the globe.

This is a very crucial step in the placement of this project as one of the most anticipated in Indian cinema. But the problem has been with the fact that Rajamouli has been changing his cinema release timelines very frequently.

This has happened earlier for films like Baahubali and RRR, where Rajamouli had to track back on the release date, at least a half dozen times in total.

But in the case of Varanasi, it appears that Rajamouli is very particular about sticking to the timeline as he is confidently saying that the film will be releasing in theatres on April 7 next year.

If that is the case, really then there should be the first Rajamouli film in recent decade to actually release on time according to the schedule.

Again, there is one observation to be had here as the film has a standard agreement with IMAX projection globally. If the film releases on scheduled time, it will be given maximum IMAX screening facilities across the globe, which will contribute significantly.

However, if the film gets postponed to a date, IMAX is not obliged to allocate as many scenes. This could possibly be one of the main reasons why Rajamouli is sticking to a strict timeline for the execution of Varanasi, and is confident about its release in April.
