Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu who is the Union Minister for Civil Aviation has been nominated as the Chairman of Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference (APMC). The event took place in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi and it was attended by Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Shri Vumlunmang Vualnam, Shri Murlidhar Mohol, President of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and delegates from 29 countries in this region.

The Civil Aviation Minister's name was nominated first by Singapore and Bhutan recommended it. This decision was supported by Nepal and Solomon Islands as well. With all other nations accepting this, the decision was a unanimous one. Accepting this, K Rammohan Naidu thanked everyone and stated that he would be taking it as a responsibility.

He said, “India's airport infrastructure has expanded from 74 operational airports in 2014 to 157 in 2024, with plans to increase this number to 350-400 by 2047. India has been leading the way in incorporating modern technologies like Digi Yatra, a biometric-based digital tool for seamless travel. He also highlighted India's recent regulatory advancements in Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft, paving the way for sustainable and innovative urban air mobility.”

He added, “We have observed the huge success that the RCS UDAN scheme has achieved. So, we want to extend it for another 10 years and see what gaps are there and try to address them. We still feel that India has an opportunity to double the airports that are there today, and we are going to work on it.”
