Recent Study Proves Popular Notion On The EVs Wrong!
Later the CNG option was brought due to concerns over pollution.
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 March 2024 9:08 AM GMTSince the initial stage of mankind's evolution, we have been coming up with discoveries to make things easy. Vehicles were manufactured for fast and safe travel. Initially, they were only Petrol and Diesel vehicles. Later the CNG option was brought due to concerns over pollution.
When there were several concerns over pollution from the emissions of Petrol and Diesel cars, the Electric Vehicles came into existence. The world is slowly moving towards the EV with big names in the sector manufacturing EV vehicles. Commuters are also showing interest in EV vehicles.
There is a popular notion that EVs are good for the environment as they won't emit substances like Petrol and Diesel vehicles. Proving the notion wrong a study came up with sensational findings and said that EVs cause more pollution compared to traditional vehicles.
The United Kingdom-based Emissions Analytics shocked everyone with the study. Drawing a comparison between traditional vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs), the study said that EVs produce more pollution.
The EVs not only emit more pollution compared to the Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) that run on Petrol and Diesel but they also omit pollution as much as 1,850 times higher.
Citing the reason behind EVs emitting more pollution, Emissions Analytics said that they emit more particulate matter from brakes and tires due to their heavy weight. Saying that the EVs are more weight than the other vehicles and hence they use heavy tyres.
Due to heavy tyres the usage of breaks becomes more. As it requires more pressure on brakes as the EVs are equipped with heavy tyres the particulate matter is also emitted in the same size.
The other reason the study cited is that tyres are mostly made up of synthetic rubber which comes from crude oil. The heavy weight of the vehicles put a big pressure on the tyres leading to their fall in life expectancy. This in turn triggers more pollution.
The batteries are the soul and heart of EVs and they are charged. The power it generates runs the vehicles. Due to this EVs have heavier batteries compared to others and this is also a reason for this.
