The bill which has been pending for 27 years was passed in Rajya Sabha 13 years and was not given prominence in Modi’s government in nine and a half years is now a sensation. Earlier, there were a few doubts on whether the bill would be tabled in Lok Sabha or not. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi cleared all the doubts. It is now confirmed that the bill will be tabled in the house soon.
The bill could not become a law during the tenure of strong leader Sonia Gandhi and 10 years of UPA government is now inching towards the climax. The reason for this was, Congress had no total strength in Lok Sabha during UPA’s tenure. But the BJP has no issue now. We have to say that there would be no issues if the bill is tabled in Lok Sabha. Before talking about the bill, we have to mention BRS MLC, Telangana Chief Minister KCR’s daughter Kavitha.
Bill Brought In the Wake Of Liquor Scam
The Delhi liquor scam has been creating a sensation in Telangana and Delhi politics. It is known that a few members of the ruling YCP in AP also faced allegations. Kavitha’s name also popped into this and she was also questioned by the agencies. At one point, it was also said that she might face issues. Amid this, she brought the Women’s Reservation Bill.
Big Fight In Delhi:
While facing allegations in the liquor scam, Kavitha gave a call to fight for the Women’s Reservation Bill. She took part in the protest. Not just that, Kavitha went all the way to Delhi and fought for the bill.
Can She Bank On It?
If the Women’s Reservation Bill is brought in the ongoing Parliament, then there is a chance for Kavitha and the BRS to use it in favour. They can say that they have been fighting for this for a long time. With this, the party can woo the women before the elections. This can be seen as a big relief for Kavitha amid the Delhi liquor scam issue. She gets some mental satisfaction with this.
However, Kavitha might be slightly unhappy as she is not a Lok Sabha member when the bill is passed. She was a Lok Sabha member between 2014-19. She lost the Nizamabad MP polls in 2019. Later, she became an MLC. Her role would have been there when the bill entered the house. Her speech in Lok Sabha would have given a good mileage for BRS.
