By: Tupaki Desk | 12 Jan 2026 11:00 PM ISTThe chief minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy had a very interesting comment when it came to traffic regulations and related laws. He pointed out that there is the need to debit the traffic challan amount directly from the bank accounts of the perpetrators.
He called for strict action against minors driving vehicles and drunken driving. While challans are being issued for violations, he pointed out that offenders are often given concessions to pay later.
He suggested linking vehicles with bank accounts and coordinating with banks so that challan amounts are automatically deducted from accounts immediately upon violation.
The Chief Minister said that cases should be booked against parents who allow minors to drive vehicles and cause accidents, and stressed that such incidents can be prevented only through early and sustained awareness from childhood.
He appreciated the Police Department for organising a dedicated road safety awareness programme and for preparing an action plan aimed at preventing road accidents.
Generally, the traffic challans are issued in the names of the vehicle owners based on the violations that are committed. These amounts are to be paid by the respective owner before the due date.
However, it is now being established by the chief minister of Telangana himself that there is the need to deduct the amount of the fine money directly from the bank accounts. it has to be seen if the police department would go ahead with this decision, which would invite significantly polarised reactions from the common folk.
