The list of the richest states in India based on the financial data for the year 2025 has been released by the RBI and let us have a look at the positioning of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

India’s economic map in FY25 once again highlights the dominance of western and southern states, but the story of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana stands out in an interesting way.

At the top is Maharashtra with ₹45.31 lakh crore, far ahead of the rest. Tamil Nadu follows with ₹31.10 lakh crore, while Uttar Pradesh at ₹29.70 lakh crore and Karnataka at ₹28.80 lakh crore remain close competitors. West Bengal, Rajasthan and others continue to maintain strong regional influence.

In this landscape, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are almost neck and neck. Telangana has reached ₹16.41 lakh crore, placing it seventh nationally. Hyderabad remains its economic engine, powered by IT, pharmaceuticals and services. The state’s strong urban driven growth model and investor friendly policies have helped it stay ahead despite its smaller size.

Andhra Pradesh stands just behind at ₹15.93 lakh crore. The state’s growth is more agriculture and infrastructure driven, supported by ports, aquaculture and emerging industrial corridors. Cities like Visakhapatnam are becoming major economic centers, giving the state long term momentum.

The narrow gap between the two Telugu states shows how competitive the region has become. While Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu dominate nationally, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are steadily strengthening their position, emerging as key contributors to India’s overall growth story.
