News Flash: Rohit Sharma Retires From Test Cricket!

One of the most significant decisions regarding Indian cricket has been taken with the departure of Rohit Sharma as the captain of the Indian national cricket team(test format). A short while back, Rohit Sharma tweeted about his retirement from the test format of Cricket.

Rohit Sharma has scored 4,301 runs in 67 Tests at an average of 40.57. He has scored 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries in Tests. He has led the Indian team in 24 Tests as captain and is regarded as one of the finest batsmen to be produced by India in its cricketing history.

After having recently retired from the T20 format of the game, after having completed the T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma has now announced his retirement from the test format as well.

“Hello everyone I would just like to share that I am retiring from Test cricket. It's been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format.”

Rohit Sharma has been one of the most consistent players for India in all formats of Cricket, and he was even leading the side in the test format.

However, the bad performances in the series against Australia and other teams exerted pressure on him. It has now reached a point where he was not even in contention for the test team for the upcoming series against England and he had to subsequently announce his retirement from the format.
