It is already known that the United States has largely cut down on the immigration policies and has made it excessively hard for Indian talent to pursue better opportunities here. In this context, Russia has done something interesting.

Russia has introduced a new visa policy aimed at attracting skilled foreign professionals as part of its efforts to strengthen its workforce and economy.

Under this initiative, professionals from various fields such as science, technology, healthcare, education, industry, culture and sports will be eligible to apply for a simplified visa and residency route.

The new visa programme is designed to make it easier for qualified foreigners to live and work in Russia without many of the restrictions seen in earlier immigration rules.

Applicants selected under this scheme will be granted either a temporary residence permit valid for up to three years or a permanent residence permit, depending on their qualifications and professional category. One of the major highlights of this policy is that applicants are not required to pass Russian language, history or legal knowledge exams, which were previously mandatory.

The programme also allows professionals to bring their family members along, making relocation more convenient and attractive. Russian authorities believe this move will help address labor shortages, attract global talent and boost innovation across key sectors.

This new visa policy reflects Russia’s broader strategy to remain competitive in the global talent market, especially at a time when many professionals are seeking alternative destinations due to tightening immigration rules in several Western countries.
