Tourism and business are two of the most revenue-generating areas for any country. While tourism attracts good income and sees high spending in the concerned nations, business not only attracts investments but also gives employment opportunities. As a big relief, visas are given to people for two purposes without having to face any issues.

Switzerland is among the nations that grant visas to travel to nations and stay there for a few days. The visa is called the Schengen visa which allows the holders to travel to European nations. For the past few days, it has been reported that Schengen visas for Indians were suspended for some time.

Reacting to the reports, the Embassy of Switzerland in India rubbished everything and said that no appointments were canceled and there are hundreds of applications daily.

Talking about the visa applications, the embassy said that more visas were processed in the year already and the count of the visas is even more than that were processed in 2019. Citing numbers, the embassy said that 129,446 applications were handled between January to June which is more than in 2019.

Having rubbished the rumours, the Embassy said that it has taken all the measures to see that no one faces any issues and the overall capacity in the country was increased. Adding further, the embassy said that earlier, the applications can apply only one month before the travel and the same time was increased to six months.

After clearing all the doubts, the Embassy of Switzerland to India took to Twitter to issue a press statement in which it said that Schengen visa appointments for Indian tour groups were not suspended and a few measures were taken in this regard.

"Press Statement: The Embassy of Switzerland in India has not suspended Schengen visa appointments for Indian tour groups. We have almost 800 daily appointments through the end of September 2023. These include 22 groups," the embassy said on Twitter sharing a press release on the visas.

The Embassy had to react to this as a few media houses claimed that the visa applications were suspended for India as the pending applications were increasing and to deal with this the decision was taken.
