Sharmila's appeal working?: 800 applicants for Congress party ticket in AP

Like it or lump it. One thing about YS Sharmila is sure. She is a sure rabble rouser and creates a buzz effortlessly. She managed to build a buzz for the YSRTP by undertaking a state-wide tour for the party. Wherever she went, she managed to gather crowds.

It is another matter that the politics took strange twists and turns and she was forced to merge her party into the Congress and close the shop in Telangana.

Ever since she took over reins of the Congress Party in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, she has succeeded in taking the Congress to the top headlines.

Everyday, there is some news of the Congress that is appearing on the Page 1 of the Telugu media. She has succeeded in creating a buzz around the Congress Party.

If sources are to be believed, her fiery statements against her brother and CM Jagan are making news and at times, her statements pack more punch that those of Chandrababu Naidu.

Not just that, if what we are hearing is right, already over 800 persons have applied for the party ticket for the upcoming elections to the Lok Sabha and the state assembly. Sources say the number is likely to rise further once the other parties announce their candidates.

Sources say that her call for a special status to the state of Andhra Pradesh and her allegation that all the major political parties are hand-in-glove with the BJP, which is sure to regain power for a record third time.

Her meetings too are drawing more crowds. But, will that translate into votes is the big question for which even YS Sharmila doesn't seem to have a ready answer.
