A big debate has been going on about whether AP Congress Chief YS Sharmila would be given a Rajya Sabha seat. It was earlier reported that the Congress high command assured the Rajya Sabha seat for Sharmila. Many felt that Sharmila might be sent to Rajya Sabha from Karnataka.

Candidates are being announced for the Rajya Sabha seats. 55 seats across the nation would be vacant and the majority of them would go to the BJP. Congress is in power in just three states- Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana.

Besides the three states, Congress is in opposition in states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Considering this, the Congress party might get as many as ten seats. Sharmila’s name has not been mentioned in any seat so far.

Sharmila was made the AP Congress chief. She should increase the graph of the party first. It is said that Sharmila was given the target to increase the party’s vote share to 10-15 percent. Currently, the Congress party’s vote share is less than NOTA.

Frankly speaking, it is very tough to achieve a big vote share. Despite hundreds of applications coming from the aspirants, it is said that the list has no big shots. The competition would be namesake. Many say that Sharmila’s political future might be in trouble if the set target is not achieved.

It is also said that Sharmila’s future would be good if she is given a chance in the Rajya Sabha elections before the general elections in AP. Can we expect such an announcement from the Congress party is the question here? If Sharmila is given the ticket from Karnataka then a strong message can be sent that Congress has trust in the YS family. If this happens then it would be a plus for the Congress in AP. If this won't happen then the people have to decide her future in AP politics.
