Pakistan was partitioned from India a few decades back. If we look at the journey and position of both countries, there is a lot of difference. Pakistan is no match to India in any matter be it economy size or others. Moreover, Pakistan is in the middle of a big economic crisis which is getting bigger and bigger.

To bring the situation under control Pakistan is believed to have taken a big decision. Pakistan is likely to travel on the path of privatisation as the government wants to privatize state-owned firms including the airlines. The government took a big decision recently.

As per the information coming from the international media, Pakistan PM Sharif decided to sell the firms as part of the new economic reforms. However, strategic firms will be kept out of this.

Recently, the Pakistan government is believed to have held a meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to come out of the crisis. Cut to a few days the government came up with a big decision. However, there is no clarity on whether the decision was part of IMF recommendations.

It is said that after considering various suggestions, the government decided to go for privatisation. The government wants to privatise the loss-making entities. By selling the entities, the government wants to come out of the crisis.

This can be seen as a daring decision by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to sell the private entities. However, this applies to only loss-making firms and the strategic entities will be left out.

It is known that Pakistan International Airlines is the state-owned airline which is headquartered in Karachi. It runs services to many destinations. As the airlines would also be privatised, we have to see what happens with PIA.
